McAfee Site Advisor

McAfee Site Advisor is a FireFox add-on that tells you whether you can trust a website. It works by putting icons next to search results and by placing a safe browsing button at the bottom of the FireFox interface. If you use Internet Explorer you can also download it and install it, it will work the same way as in FireFox but the safe browsing button will be display on top. To install the Site Advisor go to www.siteadvisor.com/download and select the download link. Now when you visit a website if the safe browsing button turns green that means you can trust that site; however if you see it yellow then the site includes nuisances and if it's red there is a serious issue with the site. So go ahead try it. This neat and simple application will help you stay safe online.

I was abale to download the free McAFree advisor and I think it is awesome. I tested it on a couple of sites and the advisor gave feed back on one of the sites to let me know that it was not a secure site. often times when looking for infomation I use google but, one of the sites I went to turned red which was a indication of trouble for me. Awesome resource.

My only problems with the McAfee Anti Virus Software that i hate is the common pop ups. Every 5 seconds there is a problem or just a routine issue it pops up interrupting everything. Plus people can program the anti virus program to install instead of removing the virus. It's a very common problem at least among PC users. So I guess I continue to be a bit skeptical about it if i dont know who is trying to "help" my computer.

Hmm...sorry, the mac side of me wants to come out and rant and rave about how we don't need this. I'll try to hold that side of me inside (for now). From my experience with Windows, McAfee is not very dependable. When I ran on Windows, I used McAfee but my computer got infected.

For me, this software is similar to the CA antivirus software I use on my own computer. Tells you when a site is legit, is unsafe or is considered questionable. The only difference I found with the CA software and the McAfee software is the McAfee slowed down my computer until it froze. So i think i would stick to the CA software instead.
